Welcome to the new website system for Softball.org.au. The new system provides you with all the benefits of the previous system, plus some added features and flexibility to allow you more control over the look and content of you site. Some things we hope you will find better, some may be just different, and hopefully none than are less attractive than what you currently have been using.
Some new features include:
- The ability to more easily include photographs in your pages - you can have multiple images
- The ability to have a photo gallery as part of your page
- No need to resize your images before you upload them - just upload your image and the system will resize it for you and create the thumbnail
- Ability to have links to PDFs and Word documents in every page rather than one long list of resources
- More flexibility to add sponsor logos
- The ability to have popup menus and a hierarchical set of menus, with a main menu item on the page, and then "sub menus". You can also have menus within menus within menus.
What about my existing data?
All of the data from your existing website has been copied across, with the copy done as of Monday August 28th, so anything that you have entered in your existing site since that date will need to be re-entered. Is it more difficult to use?
With more flexibility there are probably more buttons to push, but there are really only a couple of basic concepts you need to learn. However, with greater flexibility also comes greater responsibility not to resort to lots of large pink flashing text on your front page, and a different font on every paragraph. While we can easily teach you how to technically maintain your website, it may take a lot longer to teach you how to use the features wisely. If in doubt, remember that simple is good.
